Equipment Checklist: Restaurants

Nestled on the corner of a busy intersection downtown, you’ve found the perfect spot for your new cafe. Now comes the fun part — building it out. You know you need the basics: chairs, tables, plates. But what else do you need to get your restaurant up and running? All Temp has your restaurant checklist.

Refrigerator

A commercial refrigerator is essential in your kitchen, which is why it’s crucial to find the right one for your space. All Temp can help you find the perfect commercial refrigerator, freezer, or walk-in cooler — for both your space and your budget.

Grill

Whether your specialty is pancakes or burgers, a good grill is crucial. The type of grill you want is related to the foods you’ll be cooking. Flat-top grills or griddles are great options if your menu is varied, but if sandwiches are on the menu, a panini press may be better.

Ice Machine

No one wants lukewarm water! An ice machine will keep your guests happy. Just remember to consider what type of ice cube is best for your business.

Cookware

When it comes to cookware, the options can be overwhelming. While the specific cookware you’ll need comes down to your menu, you’ll generally need a few basic pieces, including pots, pans, baking pans, and hand tools such as tongs, whisks, spatulas, and knives.

Oven

Your choice of oven includes conventional and convection. If you’re serving pizza, you’ll have a choice of a brick, conveyor, or deck oven.

Deep-Fryer

From fries and mozzarella sticks to churros and donuts, a deep-fryer is your solution to sides, appetizers, and desserts. When shopping for a deep-fryer, keep the capacity and temperature range in mind.

Point of Sale System

Perhaps most importantly is the point of sale (POS) system you choose. This system is how waiters will input orders to the kitchen. Some POS systems can even be used to track employee hours and calculate labor costs.

Once your restaurant is up and running, it’s important that you have a maintenance plan in place for your Tampa commercial refrigeration.
